The Irish Pub & Grill, over on the west side, tied with Stober’s for best pub/tavern the former closed in 2013 the latter is still going strong. If you wanted to go dancing, Spiral in Old Town was the place, as well as the most popular gay bar, but it’s been shuttered since Covid. Since closing five years ago, its location has changed hands twice, with Bowdie’s the present occupants. For a steak: The Knight Cap, with its idiosyncratic décor. Pizza, of course, was DeLuca’s, which went out last year as popular as ever. Best new restaurant: Fork in the Road, which shone for a couple of years on the west side before calling it quits in 2014. Houlihan’s, once a staple at the Lansing Mall, won for best appetizers and happy hour. But before we get to this year’s winners – and you won’t offend me at all if you skip right ahead - I thought it would be fun to glance back at some winners from 2012 that have gone to their great reward. Oh, wait, I’m looking at the Top of the Town winners’ list from 10 years ago. And for best burger, the winner is Bonnie’s Place.
